About Us
A nonprofit for the family around the person
Project Family Circle Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports families when a loved one is living through a mental-health crisis. We care for the parents, spouses, children, siblings, and caregivers who are carrying the weight alongside that person.
Who we are
Family Circle was founded by Rabbi Dovber Engel, LMFT, after years of sitting with individuals and families through psychiatric hospitalizations, crises, and long recoveries. One pattern repeated itself in nearly every family: enormous effort went into helping the person who was unwell, and almost none went to the household holding everything else together.
Family Circle exists to close that gap. We are a small, volunteer-supported organization that reaches families directly, often in the days and weeks when they are least able to look for help themselves.
We are not a clinic, a hospital, or an emergency service. We do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. Our work sits alongside professional care: practical family support, care packages, plain-language education, and help navigating to the right resources.

How we work with a family

Someone reaches out
A family member contacts us directly, or a friend, clinician, educator, or community member refers them. There is no cost and no application process.

We listen first
A short, private conversation by phone, WhatsApp, or email. We ask what is happening, who in the household is affected, and what would genuinely help right now.

We offer what fits
That may be a care package, practical help, educational material written for families, or a referral to an appropriate professional or community resource.

We stay reachable
Families are welcome to come back as circumstances change. Needs after a hospitalization are rarely the same as needs during one.

Family Circle provides family support, education, resources, and referrals. Family Circle is not an emergency or crisis response service and does not replace professional medical or mental health care.
